A Gatsby Romance: Black & White Reception Decor
Monday, March 17 2014
We have fallen head over heels for Designer Specialty Linens newest Luxe collection, which just debuted last week featuring one-of-a-kind patterns and textiles. And to inspire couples in the planning stages, eight wedding event designers and florists collaborated to create beautiful and unique tabletop decor based on these stunning linens and debuted their visions at Long Beach's newest reception venue, The Loft on Pine.
The ladies from Small Wonders Events and Butterfly Floral Designs created a modern and lavish design inspired by The Great Gatsby. It featured "Lafayette", a black and silver whimsical linen from the Luxe Collection. The centerpeice was a silver candelabra entwined in roses, orchids, hydrangeas, and pearls and surrounded by seven miniature floral arrangements. "We chose a smaller table to really give the impression of an overwhelming, robust, and elaborate tabletop experience" explained Julia Kadish of Small Wonders.
To keep with their modern theme and not detract from the overall design, the team chose to use ghost chairs as seating and kept color to a minimum. "Bling rings" from Neiman Marcus were wrapped around the dark, Fleur De Lis folded napkins and candles were used to add warmth and natural light. The showstopping tablescape told a story of contrast; dark versus light, black versus white, and classic versus modern. The perfect theme for a bold and glamorous bride.
