Jeri & Eric
Wednesday, June 20 2012
After two and a half years of friendship, Jeri and Eric took the plunge and began a relationship when they moved to Austin, Texas in 2007. Eric, a 2008 Olympian and cancer survivor, proposed nearly four years after their move during a long awaited trip to San Antonio. He timed it perfectly, asking at sunset in the atrium of The Westin La Cantera resort. With such a romantic setting for the proposal it is no wonder their wedding - which took place in Jeri’s parents’ backyard - kept to this aesthetic. Jeri wanted it to be romantic, but not too girly. This was achieved with an all white palette, punctuated with details in gold, silver, and bronze - colors that are perfect for an Olympian.
The setting was made even more special with thoughtful details like cream and white flowers with pearls. Bronze tablecloths were accented with lace caps, and were laid out over long tables to create a family setting. Eric’s swim coach, Kris Kubic, was ordained especially for the ceremony. He made sure to take a moment to honor Eric’s father, who passed away of cancer a year prior. A magnificent ficus tree provided a backdrop for the ceremony, and made it even more intimate with the addition of the couple’s names and wedding date carved into the side.
