Kelly Lynn Reich and George A. Ruiz

April 28, 2012

Married and Celebrated: The Mission Inn Hotel and Spa, Riverside

Honeymoon: Maui, Hawaii

Kelly and George’s paths nearly crossed many times - they attended the same sporting events in high school, had friends at the same universities, and even worked in the same shopping mall. It wasn’t until George got a job at Nordstrom (where Kelly already worked) that a mutual friend introduced them. They began dating four months later, and ten years after that George proposed to Kelly 10 days before Christmas while the couple was getting ready to go our with friends. Kelly is hard to surprise and sometimes doesn’t react well to them, so planning the proposal was no easy feat!

The couple had visited The Mission Inn shortly before their engagement, during the Festival of Lights, and Kelly had thought it would be a beautiful place to get married (not knowing George was planning a proposal the next week).  The Saint Francis of Assisi chapel reminded George of the altars where he grew up in Mexico city, so getting married in the chapel was also a beautiful way to honor his family and his culture. The bride wanted a wedding that channeled Old Hollywood, but with a modern twist; she wanted all of the glamour without the glitz. The colors were inspired by Kelly’s green bouquet with accents of eggplant and pewter. After the ceremony, guests were treated to a fabulous dinner party accompanied by music from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Michael Buble.
