A wedding in Italy may not be in the cards, but the next best thing has arrived: Superstar chef Giada De Laurentiis has launched Giada Catering. Prepped and ready to serve Southern California, the elevated catering company features sophisticated Italian-inspired menus, a comprehensive cocktail program plus complementing tablescapes. Clients may choose from one of four menus, each of which embraces the flavors and spirit of various regions: Amalfi, Rome, Milan and the California coast. Personally crafted and designed by De Laurentiis, the menus showcase her iconic style, focusing on her interpretation of Italian cuisine melded with California flavors as well as her hand-picked coordinating table design. Guests will dine on De Laurentiis’ famous dishes (lemon spaghetti!) as well as soon-to-be favorites, such as Waldorf panzanella; petrale sole in coconut broth, which is served with Tuscan kale, lime, ginger and anchovy; and much more. WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO BRANCH INTO CATERING?
I worked as a private chef in Los Angeles in my early career, so launching Giada Catering was truly a full-circle moment for me. With Giada Catering, it brings me joy to help re-create the same cherished experiences I had growing up in the kitchen with my grandfather, connecting with family and friends over delicious food, for other people.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COMPLEMENTING TABLE DESIGNS?
I’ve hand-selected each inspiration’s tablescape to feature its own unique aesthetic, from dinnerware, place settings and tablecloths to floral arrangements and accent décor. Each tablescape is intended to represent the inspiration’s namesake. For example, our Rome inspiration melds classic Italian and metropolitan glamour, while Amalfi conveys a luxurious coastal atmosphere with vibrant Mediterranean touches.
DO YOU PROVIDE TASTINGS TO HELP COUPLES CHOOSE THEIR MENUS?
Yes! We encourage tastings, not only to sample a wide variety of items, but also to assure that this important element of the wedding day is beyond expectations.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE DISH FROM AMONG THE MENUS?
Our signature lemon spaghetti is the top-selling dish at Giada Vegas, and it is already a favorite with our clients. And the lemon ricotta cookies are a must-have to close out any party!
AND FINALLY, ARE YOU ON-SITE AT THE WEDDINGS? AND IF SO, DO GUESTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET YOU?
