Ask the Experts: 10 Summer Skincare Tips for Brides

Trends

Glowing skin is number one on a bride's to do list--right next to find a wedding dress, choose a photographer, decide on invitations, save-the-dates, and nailing down the invite list crazy. We turned to skin expert Annie Tevelin, a former makeup artist who channeled her love for skin care into sharing her wise tips by creating a forum on Facebook called Skin Owl. This grew into her product line, a completely natural and essential oil-based products that keep your skin healthy, refreshed and glowing. A pro at helping celeb clients and brides look their best, Tevelin shares her top ten tips for prepping your skin for the big day.

1. LIGHTEN UP Everyone wants a youthful glow on their wedding day. Opt for a light spray tan the day before instead of a medium or dark formula a few days out. The light formula will look fresh the next day vs darker pigments which tend to look uneven as they fade.

2. BE COOL Stick to cool-toned lip shades. Yellow-based lipsticks and stains, such as coral and brick red, tend to make your teeth looks yellow in photos.

3. AVOID HAIRY SITUATIONS Make sure you get your hair done prior to putting on makeup. The constant blast of heat can melt away foundation and most of your makeup in a few minutes.

4. WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE When it comes to boosting your wedding day radiance, drinking water is key! Drink 8 glasses a day during the week leading up to your big day for a fresh, clean complexion.

5. GO FIRST CLASS Stick to classic makeup vs. trends. Glittery eye shadows, cat-eyes, and super dark lipsticks look dated later.

6. PLAN AHEAD Try to schedule facial treatments, such as peels or micro-dermabrasion, in the month before your wedding day. That way you leave enough time to combat any unforeseen surprises!

8. YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT Eat water-packed foods, such as cantaloupe, celery, grapefruit a

nd watermelon. They will help boost moisture levels, leaving you plumped and bright (and detoxed!)

9. ICE, ICE BABY Suck on an ice cube before walking down the aisle. The ice chills the millions of cells in the cheeks, plumping and firming your skin from within.

10. STRESS RELIEF Try incorporating Pilates or Yoga into your pre-wedding regimen. Not only do they alleviate stress, but you'll be sure to look long and lean as you walk down the aisle.
