Let it Snow: SoCal Gone Winter Wonderland In A Christmas Wedding Celebration In Buellton
It was no surprised to wedding planner Jane, of Jane Alexandra Events, when her sister came to her with the idea of a Christmas-themed wedding. Sara has, as Jane put it, “always been obsessed with Christmas.” Jane was delighted with the challenge to give her sister the magical winter wonderland wedding of her dreams in sunny Southern California. The color palate of green and red was a given, but Jane put a dreamy, elegant twist on the classic holiday hues by opting for rich tones and incorporating different textures like velvet. They found the perfect setting for the holiday affair at Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground in Buellton.
“I am a true believer in the fact that your invitation sets the tone for your wedding and Kelly Patrice didn’t disappoint with her custom invitation suite she created for Sara and Danny,” Jane said. Danny’s 1978 Volkswagen bus was decked in Christmas garnishes and used as the photo op backdrop.
With hot toddies in hand, guests cozied up in soft blankets as they were whisked away into the festive dreamland. The alter stood wrapped in burgundy roses and pine garland with Christmas trees on either side. Just as Sara and Danny embraced for their first kiss as a married couple, a burst of white snow surrounded the scene, taking the couple by complete surprise. Sara recalls the surprise snow machine as one of the highlights of the day. “Our faces hurt from smiling--it was bliss to walk through falling snow as husband and wife, especially when surrounded by friends and family. The feeling is indescribable.”
Despite the 70-something degree whether, guests partied all night in fluffy Santa hats, sipping the night’s signature cocktail, the “Ray Hound” from the airstream bar. Sara and Danny sealed the night with rosy cheeks and a kiss, entangled in twinkling Christmas lights.
