What distinguishes your venue? Share your unique attributes.
The Ebell of Los Angeles was built in 1927 and is an architectural masterpiece by renowned architect Sumner Hunt. The Italian Renaissance style is warm and inviting. Each event space is singular in its grandeur and detail, while still maintaining a sense of intimacy and community. In the center of it all is the courtyard garden, perfect for beautiful Southern California evenings. But the impressive features do not stop with the design and look of the Clubhouse. The team of skilled Special Events professionals understand all the nuances of planning a wedding, and are there every step of the way to guide and collaborate, ultimately focused on the best experience for their couples planning their biggest day and their guests. A large part of that experience is the culinary aspects: the Ebell has a reputation for fine dining cuisine, a rarity for large event catering. We strive hard to exceed expectations.
Where are receptions held? What is the capacity of your reception location?
The Ebell has two main ballroom spaces for dining receptions: the grand Dining Room, with ornately carved archways and French door access to the adjacent garden terrace, can seat as many as 250 guests with room for dancing. The Lounge, with its glide-step staircase, richly decorative ceiling, and prominent floor-to-ceiling windows can accommodate as many as 180 guests with room for dancing. Cocktail receptions can be held in the stately Art Salon or center Courtyard Garden.
For all guests to dine and dance in one ballroom, the capacity suggestion is 250 guests. To utilize all four event spaces exclusively in a cocktail-style party setting, the Ebell of Los Angeles clubhouse can entertain as many as 1,200 guests.
Do you have space for doing a ceremony? Where do ceremonies usually take place?
Indeed we do – the Lounge, with its grand glide-step staircase, is an elegant setting for a wedding ceremony. The impressive floor-to-ceiling windows and artistic ceiling are visually impressive for guests and set the tone for the magical moment to come. The courtyard garden is perfect for couples who wish to wed outdoors. The historic fountain centerpiece offer guests the soothing trickle of the water feature prior to and after the ceremony.
What are your dinner prices for a sit-down and buffet?
Because every menu is designed specifically for each couple and their tastes and styles, catering budgeting can vary. A typical three-course plated dinner service estimates near $100 per person. A buffet or food station design starts at $104 per person. These rates include the staff required for the venue, service, and bar.
What is the rental cost?
Exclusive access to the Ebell Clubhouse is $8,000 and includes 9 hours of access to all four event spaces, two green rooms, and one parking lot.
Am I required to use your food, beverages, and serving attendants?
Yes. We have a uniquely talented Executive Chef and beautifully crafted Seasonal California menus available from our in house kitchen. Please allow us to craft a custom menu for you
What is your cake cutting fee?
We do not have a cake cutting fee. We will gladly serve your provided wedding cake without charge.
What is your closing time?
Is there adequate parking available?
The Ebell has two parking lots. The Clubhouse rental includes one parking lot and the theatre is guaranteed one parking lot. Rental of both theatre and clubhouse for your event provides access to both lots. Valet service can be arranged for your event. The Special Events Office can obtain a cost quote for you from our exclusive valet company.

“What an amazing venue!!! My daughter and son- in- laws wedding took place here and I am still without words. Anessa is the event person we worked with and she was amazing every step of the way. She was always available to answer questions.
The food at the wedding was as delicious as it was at the tasting. The chef is amazingly talented. Everyone at The Ebell cared so much that everything with the event should be as perfect as we wanted. The staff was very attentive. Our guest are still so impressed with the meals being placed all at once at the table.. Very classy!
OK now I must say after seeing the wedding pictures that there is no bad shot at the Ebell. Whether the ceiling, staircase, windows, from the balcony.....the pictures are so beautiful and special.
Again though my daughter and son-in-laws perfect wedding (their words) all started with Anessa and the staff caring so much and making sure that all that they envisioned for their wedding day become reality.
This gorgeous historical venue and the event staff does not disappoint. If you want an incredible, special event then this is the place to book.”

My wife and I got married at the Ebell on June 5th of this year, and it was nothing short of sensational. We had 215 people there, and from top to bottom the venue looked incredible. It is a spectacular and ornate building from the 1920's that is truly unlike any other venue in LA. The epic proportions of the rooms and the spectacular detail work are truly a sight to behold. And that's before all the beautiful floral and lighting.
We worked on the wedding with Jenny Young and the whole team for almost an entire year, and it was spectacular in all respects. They were wonderful and helped us pull off a bunch of surprises (cat adoption at the reception...) as well as a perfect and delicious meal. And Chef Louis Pechan really went the extra mile to make it a special night, even building custom fire boxes for our single-origin chocolate (with chocolate sommelier) and s'mores table. Yes thats correct. Fireboxes for our S'mores table. Like I said, it was spectacular.
From the first tour in July of 2015 right up until the wedding, they were really all about helping us realize our vision. And in turn, we engaged their creativity as professionals and they were able to make it even better than we could have envisioned. They actually gave us a ton more food than is standard with the package, and made lots other accommodations to help our vision. Not the least of which was allowing us to have a cat adoption, Scottish bag pipes and drums, and the let me cut the cake with a sword. Plus at no extra cost I was able to bring in my own custom bar menu created by one of my groomsmen. We also supplied pre-mixed drinks but they didn't charge extra to serve our concoctions.
But the most amazing thing was the food. Unlike so many weddings, and so many venues, that provide at best forgettable fare, this was some of the best food you've ever had. Literally in Europe this place would have Michelin stars. First, the tasting dinner was a full dinner. Actually so much food that we took some home and ate it for days. There was fish, and unbelievable brisket, and even better short ribs, and the best brussel sprouts you've ever tasted. There was an amazing burrata salad, and Chef Louis managed to get cheese in at least 50% of the dishes. Good cheese too, not processed crap. He even served grilled halloumi, which if you've never had it is the absolute best cheese ever because its doesn't melt when you cook it.
They also accommodated my relatives, who are kosher and have specific food they prefer. Chef Louis actually made corned beef and pastrami in house. and it was the absolute best.
The apps were insane, including the bonkers and delicious fois gras cronuts. Just process that for a minute. I processed a whole bunch of them...
One of the best and most unique things the Ebell did was have a personal attendant who was at our side all night. He was both on point and unobtrusive, always there when we needed him. He even brought up a plate of all the hors d'oeuvres to the room we went to to relax after the ceremony (traditional in Jewish weddings).
Also the lighting was brilliant. We made it look like an outdoor nighttime forrest wedding, with trees and a starfield and the moon all projected onto the ceiling of the dining room.
Finally, I want to thank all the staff specifically, as they were all brilliant. First is the lovely and wonderful Jenny Young, who is such a good event planner that we are now lucky to call her a friend. She really was the rock for the whole event. And it was an amazing event.
Next is Chef Louis Pechan, a genius in the kitchen. Chef Louis could work anywhere he wants. And the Ebell is where he chooses to unleash his culinary genius. If you're so lucky to be able to work with him, let him help you figure out what to eat. Don't tell him what you want.
And there's the lovely Emily. It was her first event at the Ebell, but I literally thought she had been there for a decade. Her day of coordination was perfect and on point. Amazing for your first gig, especially when its a huge wedding with a hundred moving parts.
Also though we didn't work quite as closely with them, Anessa and Kristina were both lovely and helpful at every turn.
In summary, if you want to have the best wedding anyone has ever been to in a spectacular and unique LA environment, do your wedding at the Ebell of Los Angeles.
