Caroline & Dan: Classic Shades of Purple at Bel Air Bay Club
Having met in wine club during their time at law school, newlyweds Caroline and Dan perfectly highlighted their love of wine in a Greek celebration at the Bel Air Bay Club in Los Angeles. Dan proposed to Caroline in the stunning Los Olivos wine country amidst family and friends and continued the celebration all weekend long in an exquisite rental home in the picturesque hills.
Inspired by the true "California experience" they wanted international guests to have, the couple incorporated tasteful beach vibes with the classic Spanish architecture and sweeping ocean views provided by the venue. A long head table at the reception composed of old driftwood adorned in cascading flowers elegantly highlighted Caroline and Dan's love for the beach without being incredibly "beachy," as they wanted the decor to fit in with their classic luxe style.
A color palette of purples, creams and greens demonstrated simple sophistication with a classy and vintage tone whilst reflecting the personalities of the couple. Deep purple tones also hinted to the vineyard inspiration of the affair. Caroline's bouquet provided by Enchanted Garden, a lovely mix of blooms and succulents tied with long ribbons, set the tone for the various floral elements seen throughout the reception. Tall glass centerpieces held an abundance of flowers and greens, enhancing the classic feel of the evening.
Keeping with Caroline's Greek heritage, the couple took part in their original take on the traditional Greek Orthodox crowning ceremony that married Caroline's parents 33 years ago. A bottle of wine from the bride and groom's favorite winery was enclosed in a box to share later in their marriage, and sprigs of olive branches, beautifully placed on each table setting, matched the laurels and olive wreaths the couple featured on their invitations by Kristeen LaBrot Events as a nod to Greek culture. During the reception a Greek dancing instructor from Hellenic Designs took to the floor to lead guests in many traditional dances, a treat for unexpecting guests.
Caroline and Dan highlighted many unique details in their wedding, including their four year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Penny, who acted as the "flower dog" and brought the rings down the petal-covered aisle. Upon entering the reception, guests searched for their name on a wine cork with a miniature succulent on top, the couples' take on the traditional placecard. The couple also handed out flip-flops to their guests on the dance floor so they could spend the evening dancing along the newlyweds to music provided by Vox DJs on their big day.
