Dawn & Kevin: Outdoor Beauty at Lake Oak Meadows
For a pair of California natives, the coldest day in New York City doesn’t seem like the time to go exploring. Such was the thought of Dawn, who couldn’t understand why Kevin and her brother were dragging her through the snow just to take a picture of the city. Despite her admittedly frequent protests, the group journeyed on until they found the perfect place. It was there that Dawn’s complaints turned into silence as Kevin knelt down and held out a gorgeous ring. After many emphatic yeses, Dawn decided the ring had to wait – at least until she was warm enough to take her gloves off.
Once they were back on the West Coast, sunshine and all, Dawn began scouring Pinterest and interrogating her support system of married friends. She and Kevin knew that they wanted a rustic-style outdoor venue, so once they found Lake Oak Meadows, she allowed the site to inspire their wedding vision. The stunning greenery of the venue set the perfect tone for the couple's dreamy outdoor ceremony. Two rustic barrels and crisp white florals by Carla Holt Floral Designs lined the aisle, ultimately leading to a romantic altar for the couple to say "I do."
From the DIY seating chart to the signage that has been repurposed around their home, Dawn and Kevin’s big day was filled with special touches that spoke to who they were as a couple. They agreed that their dessert table was one of their favorite details. Between taste preferences and dietary restrictions, the pair settled on a ‘buntini’ from Nothing Bundt Cakes – a mix of mini bundt cakes. Despite Dawn’s traditionalist reservations, she was grateful to have gone outside of her comfort zone and couldn’t have been happier with the dainty desserts that perfectly capped off the day.
