Penny & Andrew: Balloons and Berry Hues Create a Whimsical Wedding
We absolutely adore the whimsy and bright punchy colors in this lovely wedding, not to mention it is the sweetest love story to hit our inbox! Penny Chumwong and Andy Coates—affectionately known as “Pandy”—had a true movie romance: She is a California girl and he is a handsome English gentleman. They met in Japan and fell in love as they traveled the world together. When it came to planning a wedding, they wanted their special day to be as adventurous and fun as every other moment in their lives. With Orange County wedding planner Natalie Good of A Good Affair wedding and event planning at the helm, Penny and Andy’s nuptials epitomized both elegance and whimsy.
Rich berry colors and denim blues made a lovely contrast against Calamigos Ranch’s rustic setting, which includes the perfect fun-loving wedding accessory—a Ferris wheel. Playful touches such as balloon-lined walkways, colorful ribbon garlands along the aisle and strands of lights hanging from the trees set a romantic and light-hearted vibe. The dazzling duo’s silhouettes were used as a recurring motif throughout the décor: as the cake topper, on the backs of their chairs and on the menus. And to bring the guests into the cameo fun, an artist created silhouette drawings for each guest as a parting favor. Other playfully personal touches included a guestbook that served double duty as a time capsule, and photos of Pandy from their wanderlust travels that served as table numbers. Sweet, personal and completely original, just like the newly wedded couple.
