Laguna Beach's Surf & Sand Resort debuts a new design
From: Spring/Summer 2013 edition
The ocean terrace at Surf & Sand makes for a picturesque setting

One of the best oceanfront properties in southern California just got even better. Surf & Sand, the scenic Laguna Beach hotel, recently completed a year-long renovation this past fall. Overseen by in-house designer Lindsay Orne, the entire resort’s design was updated with a coastal color palette and beachy touches such as driftwood art and iridescent shell textures.

Every guestroom and suite was refreshed with subtle paint in shades of silver, blue and tan. The formal ballroom received a cosmetic makeover that included new carpet, draperies and fixtures—making the already majestic room that much more striking. Be sure to stop by the remodeled spa, which can be rented out for bridal parties. New offerings, such as the Made Fresh Daily, use seasonal, organic ingredients in a rotating menu of treatments.

One of only five luxury hotels in the entire state California that is actually located on the beach (translation: no busy streets or boardwalks to get between you and the sand), Surf & Sand marries upscale elegance with a laidback West Coast vibe. The only thing that rivals its stunning location might be its ceremony options. Couples can choose to wed right on the sand, on the ocean terrace or, most popular, on its Catalina Terrace, a glass balcony four floors up that feels like you’re floating above the Pacific.
