“What really tugs at my heart is when I create something that reminds me of home,” says Jennifer Rothfield of Simi Valley’s Belle of the Ball Designs, who added vintage doorknobs and plates to a wood planter with a wildflower-style arrangement of garden roses, peonies, miniature succulents and scabiosa. This concept is easily adapted to a couple’s personal style; think of clean lines and chrome detailing for a midcentury modern look, or go wine country with an oak barrel. “Just remember to keep an open mind and try and look at things in a different way,” advises Rothfield. “The more personal the item, the better.”
