Midcentury Modern Garden Wedding Day at Avalon Hotel in Palm Springs

Ally Kleinman and Ryan Farmer’s romantic journey began with a serendipitous encounter on the Hinge dating app in February 2020. Despite only having three dates before the world shut down, their connection thrived during months of isolation, ultimately culminating in a proposal. Compelled by a desire to create a mini-vacation for their guests, the couple chose the Avalon Hotel in Palm Springs as their wedding destination. On the lush lawn, the ceremony revealed a wedding design that seamlessly blended the iconic midcentury modern style with a whimsical garden aesthetic. A palette dominated by shades of navy and blush was accented with vibrant pops of pink, blue and yellow. Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory,” performed by a string quartet, accompanied the bride down the aisle, providing a heartfelt exchange of handwritten vows. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a delightful poolside cocktail hour featuring tasty drinks and bites, which was made even more enjoyable by a surprise performance by the Aqualillies, a professional synchronized swimming/dance company. Creatively displayed key chain escort cards made for an effortless transition of guests to a seated dinner reception beneath a canopy of twinkling lights in a tree-lined courtyard. Three long tables adorned with navy linens, an abundance of flowers and a sea of candlelight created a romantic alfresco ambiance. As dinner concluded, guests were ushered into the ballroom, where the fun got underway. From a choreographed first dance to a curated dessert bar, a board game lounge and a late-night pizza truck, the celebration was filled with unforgettable moments that ended on a deliciously satisfying note.
