Modern Mexican Themed Wedding Melds Personal Style with Culture at The Clovis Castle

Ashley Mireles and Carlos Guerrero tied the knot at The Clovis Castle, which was a dream come true for the bride, who had imagined saying “I do” at the location since she was a teenager. “I even have it pinned on an old ‘Dream Wedding’ Pinterest board,” says Ashley. Alas, it appeared to be a no-do when the venue closed during her senior year of high school. But in a stroke of perfect timing, The Clovis Castle reopened in 2022, and Ashley’s wish became a reality. The couple’s wedding was a beautiful fusion of cultural heritage, personal style, and an unwavering love for family and friends. A modern Mexican theme infused the day with bold colors and nontraditional elements, such as the mix-and-match colors of the bridesmaids’ dresses and Carlos’ dashing burgundy tuxedo. Meaningful moments were many, such as including a lasso ceremony to pay tribute to their cultural roots. The tradition, found in both Hispanic Catholic and native cultures, symbolizes the unity of the couple. Both mothers participated by placing the “lasso,” actually a ceremonial rosary, to honor Carlos’ grandmother and the family’s shared heritage. Chic bows to Mexico included Talavera tiles as place cards and the basket lighting hung over the dance floor. And at the request of the guests, Carlos and Ashley included the money dance, memories of which they now cherish, as it gave them one-on-one time with their guests. The wedding was a joyous occasion filled with meaningful gestures and heartwarming connections.
