Santa Barbara’s call is strong; brides and grooms from across the globe have flocked to the famously luxe town to host their nuptials. The Spanish Colonial architecture, Riviera views and oceanfront venues have secured the area’s spot in the subliminal list of the state’s best wedding locales. But even historic California venues need a refresh. In 2026, legendary properties are being thoughtfully restored, Montecito is adding to its portfolio and new routes of transportation are making the region more accessible than ever.

Leading the recharge is THE RITZ-CARLTON BACARA, SANTA BARBARA (@ritzcarltonbacarasb), which revitalized the 78-acre seaside resort in time for its 25th anniversary last fall. Renovations include new finishes and furnishings in all 358 guest rooms and suites in soothing seaside blues, cozy, residential-style seating in the lobby and an upgraded pool area complete with plush, new cabanas.
The redesign draws inspiration from the local coastal landscape as well as the Chumash people, the land’s original stewards. Culinary offerings have also expanded with the debut of Marisella, an Amalfi Coast-inspired signature restaurant under Chef Danny Grant alongside casual eatery Lulio (don’t miss the za’atar flatbread) and the new Mission Market café featuring house-made pastries—ideal additions for rehearsal dinners, welcome gatherings or leisurely post-wedding brunches.

Beyond Bacara, other beloved properties are embracing thoughtful updates. THE MILO (@themilosb), formerly Hotel Milo, recently debuted a large- scale renovation—the impressive 121-guestroom update includes new interiors and furnishings, as well as exterior amenities like fire pits.

HOTEL SANTA BARBARA (@thehotelsantabarbara), a central figure downtown, unveiled its 75 revitalized guest rooms, meeting space and lobby last summer. The historic property, celebrating its centennial with the new and aptly named 1926 bar, serves as an idyllic home base for your wedding party: close to everything and teeming with charm.

There has also been an exciting culinary addition to SoCal’s oldest continuously operating hotel (circa 1871), THE UPHAM HOTEL (@uphamsb), where the teams of Barbareño and Hearth Hospitality Group opened Bistro Amasa in 2025.
Speaking of meals: EL ENCANTO (@elencanto.sb), a darling of the local venue scene, has a new cook in the kitchen. Executive chef Joel Viehland promises a fresh menu and culinary program slated to launch this year.
Meanwhile, just down the coast, Montecito is once again stepping into the spotlight. The highly anticipated reopening of FOUR SEASONS RESORT THE BILTMORE SANTA BARBARA (@fssantabarbara) marks a major return for the luxury mainstay, bringing with it refreshed accommodations and the arrival of Nobu and Bouchon Bakery—an enticing prospect for couples envisioning a full wedding weekend, complete with elevated dining.
Nearby, the storied MONTECITO INN (@montecitoinn) is also completing a thoughtful renovation of its guest rooms, offering another polished retreat for family and friends.
Ease of access is another welcome development. Expanded air service to SANTA BARBARA AIRPORT—including new and increased nonstop routes from major West Coast and Midwest cities— means smoother arrivals for out-of-town attendees.
Train travelers will also benefit from the new GOLETA TRAIN DEPOT, set to open with upgraded amenities and improved connections. All told, these enhancements make gathering loved ones in this coastal oasis more exciting and seamless than ever.
