Christine and Joseph had noticed each other at their church, but officially met at Capital Records during a private concert. Joseph flew to Australia with Christine for Christmas that year and proposed just after the New Year at McKell Park in Sydney. Champagne, flowers, fairy lights, candles and sweet tunes created a romantic ambience, so the couple wanted to recreate the setting for their wedding. Neutral hues flawlessly blended the wedding design with the natural beauty of the venue, with beautiful champagne, gold and ivory hues paired with hints of charcoal and grey setting the stage for the affair. Specks of gold were added throughout the décor for a touch of glam, and bohemian accents, such as the feathers at each place setting and the couple’s chairs, added a laidback California flair.
Christine works in the fashion industry, so finding the perfect gown was essential. Designer Annabelle Nguyen, the bride’s close friend, designed a custom gown with a dramatic high neckline and beautiful train. She even gifted Christine the original sketch. Joseph is a musician and songwriter, so the music selection for the night was top notch. Christine asked him to choose the song she walked down the aisle to and was thrilled to hear the gospel choir sing “Heroes” by David Bowie. Instead of table numbers, the couple opted for cards featuring their favorite songs, including “Little Red Corvette” by Prince and “Lay Lady Lay” by Bob Dylan. Staying true to Joseph’s Australian roots, baristas from Red Window Coffee served specialty coffees late into the night to keep the party going.
