Elevated Coastal Wedding Day at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla

A little unexpected rain couldn’t wash away the good vibes at Julie Gonzalez and Kaleb Lambeth’s wedding. The couple exchanged their vows at the Scripps Seaside Forum against the backdrop of pristine ocean views and in a setting designed to grant their wish for a refined and intimate celebration— with lots of florals. Julie and Kaleb, who met during their residencies at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, had an unconventional start to their love story. Kaleb recalls meticulously planning their first date to ensure that it was memorable. And memories were certainly captured when, at dinner, the couple’s appetizer course was interrupted by a cry for help: “Is there a doctor here?” The two quickly jumped into action and from that moment, Julie and Kaleb were a team. A source of inspiration for the couple’s wedding was their sunset engagement on the cliffs of Santorini, and Julie’s happy place—San Diego— served as the perfect setting for a coastal design reminiscent of that island. Against a setting of lush greenery, with airy white florals and unobstructed seaside views, the ceremony took place and was filled with heartfelt love and family traditions. Among them were Kaleb wearing his grandfather’s watch and Julie’s cousin reading a passage. In a nod to Kaleb’s home state of Texas, the reception space featured rustic elements. At the bar, guests could choose between California or Texas drink stirrers to show their state pride. Wooden baskets and accents across the space contributed to the relaxed coastal feel, and white florals echoed the ceremony design across the tablescapes. It was a truly magical day, and despite rain falling moments before the ceremony, clear skies emerged. Some guests even spotted dolphins jumping out of the ocean as Julie took her walk down the aisle.
