Once the focal point of a 17th-century convent of Carmelite nuns in Dijon, France, the chapel at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa served as inspiration for this French- and celadon-themed design. A historic wonder of aged stone, the 1615 chapel was shipped to SoCal from France by freight boat and meticulously reconstructed as the health spa’s meditation center. It sits atop a windy hill enveloped by vineyards—a fitting scene for this relaxed design that melds modern California style with Old World architecture. The concept focused on organic textures and soft and airy garden florals while giving a sense of history. The invitations reflected the vision with shades of natural spring green, terra-cotta and sunstone. Loose organic florals of muted champagne, ivory, gentle pinks and celadon green graced the tabletop, which also featured beautiful green floral place settings and terra-cotta linens. A dreamy high-low gown from Marchesa Notte added a modern touch, while a gorgeous ruffled Amsale gown matched the charm of the 400-year-old limestone L’Orangerie, a once-upon-a-time greenhouse for orange trees.
Sent to SoCal from France, the chapel at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa boasts hundreds of years of history.
