Inspired by Old Hollywood romance and classic film, Roman Holiday, high school sweethearts Diana and Evan celebrated their 15-year anniversary the best way they knew how - by getting married. Aiming for a venue that emanates the elegance and classic charm of the golden age, Villa del Sol d'Oro's breathtaking grounds served as the perfect space for the pair to begin their life as husband and wife.
Guests were greeted by classic songs from old movies wafting through the air and a vintage library that doubled as a bar. Roman Holiday was projected onto a wall in the foyer which fostered a cozy and nostalgic ambiance. Diana and Evan also commissioned a custom welcome sign in the style of the film's original poster to set the tone for their love story to take center stage.
Undoubtedly cinematic, the outdoor ceremony was simply decorated with cloud-like swaths of ivory roses and hydrangeas. Diana exuded an Audrey Hepburn-like beauty with her elegantly coiffed up-do, sparkling statement necklace and simple cowl-back gown. Her leading man fit the bill with his tan suit and tie complementing the natural ambiance of their day. The universe winked at Diana and Evan's nuptials, the sky parting for a sprinkle of rain during their ceremony just as it does in Roman Holiday. "It became a perfect metaphor for marriage itself," says Diana, "things won't always go exactly as planned, but sometimes, the unexpected makes the moment even more meaningful."
Cocktail hour ensued with the romantic score of a Mexican trio serenading the guests while they sipped on fresh signature drinks. A soft blue popped against the otherwise neutral design of their courtyard reception, which, although it had to move inside due to the rainy weather, did not dampen the spirits of the newlyweds and their guests. Diana reflects on her cinematic marriage to Evan, "My advice to other couples is to embrace whatever comes--because it's all part of how your unique story is meant to unfold.
