Pastel Purple and Elderberry Hues in Airy Destination Wedding Day at The Seabird Ocean Resort & Spa

Ellen Senft and Joseph Kwon had 10 years of adventures together before they embarked on the big adventure — their wedding. Thus, when the special day arrived, it needed to be exciting and special. The couple met in the summer of 2013 at a social gathering, and by pure coincidence attended Indiana University together, which was only the beginning of their relationship. Their love story culminated during a trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2023, when Joseph got down on one knee and proposed. For their wedding, the couple planned an adventure across the country to match their lively spirits: a destination wedding in San Diego. The Seabird Resort, with its airy, coastal feel in central Oceanside, was the immediate choice. To define the space, Ellen opted for a palette of pastel purple and elderberry, which was also incorporated into florals, stationery and other details. The ceremony took place on the outdoor patio with sweeping views of the ocean and palm trees. The celebration then moved indoors for the reception, where the color scheme perfectly complemented the venue’s ocean blues and whites. To commemorate Joseph’s love for gaming, dice and playing cards were motifs in the decorations, and the couple arranged for a blackjack table to be included in the reception.
