Alison & Scott: Intimate Secret Garden Wedding at San Ysidro Ranch
Literary lover Alison wanted to evoke the romance and lush English garden lifestyle from her favorite novels by Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters. "A wedding is the perfect excuse to wrap yourself in fragrance, candlelight and have garlands hanging from the rafters," explains Alison. "We wanted a feeling of opulence and decadence, but in an understated and discreet manner."
A tapestry of florals by Camellia Florals created a relaxed English garden elegance melded with San Ysidro's ranch environment. A range of blush and soft pinks, peach, apricot, sage alongside accents of lavender--from muted to warm shades. Textural elements like berries, foliage and vines among lush and fluffy summer flowers such as antique hydrangea, garden roses, dahlias, parrot and fringed tulips. The dining room featured a ‘Secret Garden’ inspiration with whimsical, lush, botanical table scapes boasting weathered stone and white pottery mixed with vintage glassware and lots of candles. A few long passion vines hanging from the cottage beams added a magical touch.
Among a long line of friends, Alison was the last to say 'I do' so the couple was ready to skip the usual wedding dos, so they skipped the bridal party, cake and bouquet toss and instead treated their big day like a big dinner party. They were married by a friend, wrote their own vows, and included a reading from Jane Eyre.
The guest of honor was the couple's 11-year-old Wheaten Terrier, Sadie, who was outfitted in her own handcrafted leash and collar decorated with flowers matching the bridal bouquet.
