Surfer Chic San Clemente Oceanfront Wedding

It was love at first sight when third-grader Ryan Hopkins met sixth-grader Stephanie Rasmussen. Eventually, the elementary school love affair matured into a relationship that culminated in a proposal on a moonlit sailboat. Ryan and Stephanie wanted a celebration that was rustic, bohemian and represented their love of beach culture; so they chose the Historic Cottage at San Clemente State Beach with its backdrop of surfers, sailboats and endless ocean views. The location lacked a bridal suite, so they rented a vintage Airstream. The evening ended with the couple doing an impromptu performance of “The Time of My Life” from Stephanie’s favorite childhood movie, Dirty Dancing—complete with the lift. “Ryan picked me up and kept spinning me around,” she says. “It was like the whole world paused for a second, and it was just us in a dream.”
