We wanted our wedding to be a love letter to San Diego, especially since it’s played such a large role in our own love story. We also weaved in elements that complemented the existing beauty of the museum and courtyard and also spoke to us as a couple.

Bride Lauren

Lauren Boyd and Dylan Clark met while in college at UC Berkeley, but soon found they shared a hometown of San Diego. Known as home to Balboa Park, beaches galore and (of course) the Padres, the couple knew there was nowhere else that would better suit their dreamy springtime nuptials than San Diego. After over a decade of their relationship, they now reside in Washington D.C. but are usually found looking for reasons to plan a California weekend getaway. Their nuptials were adorned with spring hues and pastels, and surrounded by towering lush greenery and ethereal floral arrangements. Coastal influences met tradition in Lauren's look, which featured pearls (the first gem she received from her parents and from Dylan) in her earrings, bracelet and veil. The museum's space offered unique areas to explore; the ceremony was set outside in the tranquility of the Sculpture Garden and the cocktail hour took place in the museum's Rotunda, immersing guests in historic paintings and sculptures. An outdoor courtyard transformed into a European al fresco dinner for the reception, with sweeping drapery adding organic movement to the space with ease. Details paid tribute to the old-world essence of the design, with custom wax seals on each menu and antique compotes holding sophisticated florals. The entire reception was inspired by a trip that Lauren and Dylan had taken to Greece, where they enjoyed outdoor dining under string lights and stars nightly. Their chosen venue offered the perfect recreation of the ambiance surrounded by elevated elegance. San Diego was attributed across wedding-day details, from vintage postcards that served as escort cards and an invitation suite with a map of the city. Lauren and Dylan brought European charm to a refined setting and their wedding day brought their personal vision to life while paying homage to their travels and their beloved hometown.
