In 1958, a young man by the name of Marshall Howe would meet Evelyn Wilson in the bar at Miramar By the Sea Hotel. Little did they know, one drink would turn into marriage, four children, and 10 grandchildren. One of those 10 was Doug Howe, who continued the Howe’s family connection to the grounds by marrying the love of his life Alexis Garcia there nearly 61 years later at the newly opened Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel. Considering every moment of the ceremony, Alexis cites the first look as the most exhilarating. “The look in Doug’s eyes when he first saw me was like no other,” she said recalling her descent down the spiraling staircase of the Rosewood. Seeing her husband-to-be break character to allow teary eyes and a larger-than-life smile is a moment she vowed to cherish forever. Honoring their epicurean lifestyle, honed by traveling to over 14 countries together, Doug and Alexis worked with Michelin Star-rated Chef Massimo Falsini of the Rosewood Miramar to curate a menu for the reception. From dressing fresh bread with strawberry and chive butter to his and her cocktails ripe from the barrel, no detail was sparred. When it came to decor, the couple decided to let the lush scene speak for itself. Enlisting luxury wedding planning firm Burlap & Bordeaux, the venue was embellished with white hydrangeas and phalaenopsis orchids as well as blush and ivory roses, white stock and burgundy lisianthus. To further spark the spirit of romance, candles were placed throughout to create a crisp, clean and elegant atmosphere.
