Wendy Ying & Johnny Hou knew from the moment they laid eyes on Santa Ynez’s Sunstone Villa, they wanted to exchange their vows with its stunning stone walls as a backdrop. They used the Tuscan-style mansion as inspiration and carried out the theme with a color palette of crisp whites, ivories, bright greens and dashes of gold. Every detail came together on the couple’s special day and the result was a true wine-country wonderland.
Wendy had not one, not two, but three breathtakingly beautiful gowns that she wore throughout the evening. The first was a Reem Acra gown for the couple’s tea ceremony. Second came her gorgeous form-fitting ceremony gown by Inbal Dror, paired flawlessly with Charlotte Olympia heels. And finally, she danced the night away in a flowing high-low dress from Watters for BHLDN.
Like a snapshot from a dream, Wendy and Johnny’s reception was a luxurious combination of vintage and modern. Tables were adorned with crisp white linens and topped with hemstitched napkins, brass candlesticks, antique-inspired dishes and hand-forged gold utensils. The centerpieces overflowed with lush white roses, ranunculus, texturally mixed foliage, lemon leaves, and olive branches—like something plucked from a Paul Cezanne still life. Their unique guest book was created by their artist and friend, Jay Chen, who drew the entire bridal party plus all the guests, who then sketched in their own face and signed their names.
At the reception, Wendy and Johnny injected an extra dose of excitement to the evening by putting their musical talent to good use! They joined the band on stage for one of their favorite songs and Wendy played the piano while Johnny rocked out on vocals. Guests sang along, danced and, undoubtedly, loved every minute.
