Unique bridal party entrances are nothing new. We thought we'd seen it all, until the above photo, captured by Anthony Scott Photography at a recent Seattle wedding, came across our desks. This bridesmaid and groomsman (also the brother of the bride) swapped clothes before their announcement, garnering quite the reaction from those around them. We're dying over their confidence and the bride's face (who is looking spectacularly classic, might we add). Hilariousness aside, we'd also like to point out the flawless pairing of blush pink and charcoal grey and the pretty silhouettes of the shimmering chiffon bridesmaids' dresses.
YouTube is flooded with videos of creative guys and gals celebrating the nuptials of their nearest and dearest. Take this video for example:
With this one grabbing almost 4 million views, it's pretty clear there's some serious competition out there. We put together a few tips for those thinking they might want to try their hand at wedding entrance insta-fame:
1. Consider your bride and groom. After all, it is their day and you don't want to be deemed a "spotlight stealer". Running ideas by them prior to the big day would be considerate and probably appreciated.
2. Make it appropriate. Remember, Grandma is somewhere in that crowd. Something else you might want to consider is the atmosphere of the venue and the wedding. If it's obviously fancy or serious, this may not be the time or the place.
3. Make sure your escort is on board. Most likely you'll be announced along with another bridesmaid or groomsman. Make sure they're aware of your plans and are either joining in or are okay with you making a fool of yourself right next to them. Try not to force them if they're particularly embarrass-prone. It always ends awkwardly.
4. Have a feel for the crowd. Everyone has a different sense of humor, and if you're in the wedding party, you should have a good feel for the crowd. If the majority of them don't connect with your sense, you might not get the reaction you were looking for.
5. Know when enough is enough. We've all been around the guy who takes a joke a little too far. Don't be that guy.
