Putt-putt has been given a chic makeover with the opening of HOLEY MOLEY, a bar that offers an immersive mini golf experience as well as karaoke rooms. Holey Moley currently has two locations: on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica and in the Mission District of San Francisco. In Santa Monica, players enter a vast three- story space, under an array of disco balls, and then take an escalator up to the check-in desk—aka the Caddyshack— where a pro sets players up with score cards, golf visors and clubs. Score a whimsical drink at the bar or from one of the roaming “caddies”; among the cocktail choices are the “Rub A Dub in the Tub,” “Happy Place Spritz,” “Boozey Birdie” or the ultimate bachelorette drink, the “Pop Till You Drop,” a vodka, lime and sparkling wine concoction served in a cute unicorn cup. Then hit one of the three pop culture–inspired, multisensory putt-putt courses, which are filled with cheeky homages to the ’80s, ’90s and other decades. Slice your way through 27 themed holes, such as the “Makin’ It Rain,” where players putt their way out of a money-blowing room; the slanted bedroom titled “Vincent Van Golf ” (part of the Arty Party course); and the nostalgic “Morning Tee with Granny.” Take a break from golfing on the Beverly Hills Hotel–inspired patio or sing your heart out in one of the private karaoke rooms. Group packages and reserved spaces make it an ideal destination for celebrating. Another location, at the Irvine Spectrum Center, will open late this summer.

The epitome of quiet luxury, CALAMIGOS GUEST RANCH AND BEACH CLUB offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of in-laws and seating charts and is an ideal spot for those seeking a wellness-focused retreat. Tucked into the Santa Monica Mountains, beneath a canopy of old-growth trees, this gem is best known for its beautiful event spaces. However, the better-kept secret is the luxurious hotel and spa nestled on the property’s 200 acres. From its discrete hotel lobby to the spa, the hotel embraces the surrounding nature with an effortless indoor-outdoor flow. The rooms, a mix of estate suites and one- to four-bedroom bungalows, are serenely comfortable, with outdoor patios that include rain showers and cozy fire pits for sipping wine under the stars. Kick off the day at the spa, an inviting space bathed in filtered forest light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Then head to one of the three resort pools to catch some rays. If sand and surf are your preference, the Calamigos Beach Club is a quick 10-minute jaunt (the resort runs shuttles) to its beachy midcentury-modern cafe and pool, which overlook the Pacific. When evening rolls around, gather at the house bar, with its cozy outdoor patio and impeccable classic cocktail menu. The on-site restaurant may be familiar to local Angelenos as the former Malibu Café, which had been a wine- sipping destination but is now open only to hotel guests and club members. Don’t miss the decadent house-made focaccia with sea salt and rosemary, and the diavolo pasta with Calabrian chile crisp.

Looking for a creative way to celebrate your engagement? Wanda Wen, the founder of the artisanal paper and stationery boutique SOOLIP, has partnered with Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village to offer Soolip creative arts workshops. Held in the resort’s beautiful greenhouse, Wen leads classes on thoughtful details such as the art of gift wrapping, journal-making, calligraphy and more. The workshops rotate throughout the year. This past spring, Wen led courses on hand-dying textiles, stationery and watercolors. If you’re looking for a more personal and curated experience, Wen will arrange custom workshops that fit your aesthetic. Best of all, her warm support and sense of humor put the less artistic souls at ease. Afterward, clients can take advantage of all the Four Seasons has to offer, from sunbathing by the newly renovated grand pool at The Cove to indulging in self-care at the spa. Whether it’s a bachelor party, bachelorette party, bridesmaids luncheon, or just an excuse to spend time with your bridal party, Wen’s workshops are a wonderful bonding experience—not only do you learn a new art or technique, but you also leave with a tangible memory of the day.
