Mekela Lumbard and Jason Swing
April 24, 2011
Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown Los Angeles
After
only a few dates, Mekela Lumbard and Jason Swing were inseparable.
Jason proposed two years later during a Caribbean cruise, and it turned
out an engagement wasn’t the only surprise: Mekela also found out she
was pregnant. She gave birth to a baby boy on Easter Sunday, and the
couple decided to wed the following Easter so two of their most
important memories would be entwined. Hawaiian native Mekela blended
elements from her culture with western traditions, exchanging leis as
well as rings. The Easter-inspired wedding was decorated with spring
colors mixed with a soft gray, chosen to coordinate with the
architecture of the concert hall. And the surprises continued with
Bollywood dancers and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler singing Mekela’s favorite
song, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” for their first dance.
