Think of Fleurish—a one-of-a-kind flower shop opened last winter by celebrity florist Amy Marella of The Hidden Garden in Brentwood—as the floral equivalent of a paint-your-own pottery studio. The light-drenched space aims to take the guesswork out of green tape and other tricks of the trade by offering flower arranging classes.
“It’s about creating an experience, not just buying an arrangement,” says Marella, who already has two more Southern California locations in the works and will continue to work with her Hidden Garden clients, such as Gwen Stefani and Tiffany & Co. “There is a great sense of pride and fun associated with making something. We help you do it well and get rid of the mess.”
“Fleurists” choose from eight on-trend seasonal FleurKits (vessel, flowers, trimmings), which vary in price ($34.95–$104.95) and level of difficulty, and arrange them with help from tablet tutorials and in-person staff. Or start from scratch with the 70-plus flower varieties on hand. There’s even a BYOV (vase, natch!) program. DIY brides can take the wedding series classes on bouquets, boutonnieres and flower halos or put their party to work a few days before the reception. Marella also sees it as a unique option for a bridal shower, thanks to Fleurish’s pretty patio, a private downstairs room and a cross-promotion with a local bakery.
