Integrating cultural traditions and personal experiences into your wedding day is a surefire way to make a wedding uniquely your own. Maddy and Matt, who met while studying abroad in London, held a formal, garden-inspired wedding filled with sentimental details that acknowledged their families, their heritages and their love story. In the ceremony at Basilica De Alcala, the bride wore her mother’s mantilla veil, and the couple incorporated Maddy’s parents’ wedding lasso into the ceremony. The party then moved to The Prado at Balboa Park in San Diego, where the cocktail hour featured charcuterie and antipasto, a must for the groom’s East Coast Italian family. One of the most remarkable details was the handcrafted green London-inspired telephone booth that served as a photo booth, built by Maddy’s uncle. Another bow to England was the card box in the style of an English mailbox. The telephone booth has since become a fixture in the couple’s home, serving as a sweet reminder of both their wedding day and the first time they met.
