Our Best of 2016 Awards Gala at the historic Alexandria Ballroom in downtown Los Angeles was an incredible night from start to finish. We celebrated the industry's top vendors at our 3rd annual awards ceremony announcing the winners (see the full list of here!) and then kept the party rolling as a talented team of vendors, including Trina Schmidt Weddings and Events, Wheat and Honey Events, and Hylah White Special Events, paid homage to Alexandria's storied history as a gathering spots for Hollywood stars, presidents and social royalties--including such notable events as Charlie Chaplain's wedding.
Thus, it was only fitting that the team from Wheat and Honey channeled inspiration from the Charlie Chaplin era. Explains Annette Kirkhuff of Wheat and Honey, "I loved being asked to create the Charlie Chaplin era. I was inspired by all the geometric patterns of that time period. Charlie Chaplin silent movies reminded me of black and white so I wanted to create the long feasting tables with glamour and pops of red and gold for the Golden age of film. We wanted the tables to be very glamorous and Andrew with Party Pleasers took the vision and made it come to life. We used tall geometric hurricanes and gold candelabras as well as gorgeous glass gold chargers, gold modern flatware, water, and wine goblets with a gold rim, and clear glass plates. Luxe Linen worked with Andrew and I to create table linens that worked with the time period in blacks, whites and cranberry. We also brought in gold metallic linens for the cocktail tables. Gold painted film reels were placed on top of the cranberry red napkin.
Laurie and Heather with Unique Floral Design designed the most beautiful centerpieces I have ever seen. We wanted height and glam of the period. With all white flowers on top of tall gold stands filled the table with magnificent beauty and style. Jackson Shrub filled the space with beautiful palm trees. Waveform Events placed spotlights on our centerpieces to create the dramatic feel. Fabulous soup and sandwich buffet were provided by 24 Carrots. While Mr. Bartender served very creative and yummy signature cocktails for their guests. Andrew with Party Pleasers brought in gold shelves for the back bars.
Charlie Chaplin was very famous for his wonderful sayings so I decided to print “his” words and showcase them on the cocktail tables In small picture frames to remind the guests that Charlie Chaplin had a wonderful sense of humor. I absolutely had to show his silent films on a wall with a red velvet drape provided by Party Pleaser to frame the movie. The photo booth from 805 Photo Booth showcased props of pearls, long gloves as they styled each guest before they stood in front of gold sequence backdrop for their picture to be taken.
Kimberlee Miller with Kimberlee Miller photography captured the whole vision our team of vendors created to show that Charlie Chaplin still lives in our hearts and that his silent movies started our amazing journey in film today."
