Alexander and Deva met in New York City and spent a few months in the bliss of new love, until they were thrown a curveball. Alexander moved to Los Angeles, and the next two and half years were a whirlwind of plane tickets and weekend visits between the two coasts. They sealed the deal with an engagement in NYC in January 2015 and set off for the West Coast to build a life together.
Deva imagined an outdoor wedding filled with warmth and romance, while Alexander wanted a unique venue. Enter Silver Lake’s Paramour Mansion, which offered the perfect mix of quirkiness and beauty: an eclectic but grand mix of Old Hollywood glamour with taxidermy animals and gilded accents set amid a large, private estate boasting lush greenery and amazing views.
The wedding was not only a union of two people and two families, but two distinct style palettes. Kristeen LaBrot Events and florist Lotus and Lily blended Deva’s ethereal dream with Alexander’s quirky vision by creating a deconstructed classic look with vintage moments. Alexander loved the wolf taxidermy spotlighted at the bar, while Deva focused on beautiful lighting and soft touches. A color palette of cream, white, blush and gold accented with green set the mood alongside a vintage archway and doors that framed the ceremony and later became the backdrop for the sweetheart table. LaBrot designed different water-colored paper to denote the guests’ meal choices, which added a pop of color to the delicate table settings.
Since the reception was outdoors, Deva wanted the lighting to be ethereal during dinner, with fun and energetic lighting during the dancing portion of the evening. Creamy florals with a tangle of vines graced the tables while overhead chandeliers were hung among strings of lights suspended from the trees.
