Devin Wachtler & Kevin Silver
Married and celebrated: Saddle Peak Lodge Date: May 29, 2016
PROPERTY LOVERS: Kevin and Devin met while working as real estate agents at the same company. She was new to the field, and Kevin often helped her out by sharing clients. When they decided to extend a business trip to Carmel into a weekend away, he went into power proposal planning mode. Inspired by their mutual profession, he rented a knockout house with a three-level deck overlooking the ocean and lined the stairs with flowers and candles. While music played and Champagne chilled,
a secret photographer captured the popping of the question at sunset.
SPRING HAS SPRUNG: The bride wanted every detail of her wedding to scream spring and to heighten the venue’s existing bucolic splendor, leafy tree canopies, rustic stonework and stunning Malibu mountain backdrop with romantic, soft details and colors. The venue was awash in oatmeal, blush, peach and silvery sage green while splashes of vibrant corals and magentas brightened the scene even further. Botanticals covered the ceremony arch, topped dining tables, decorated the aisle and were even found on the elegantly simple white cake. Illustrated versions even appeared on graphic elements such as the menu and invitations. Linen bags were filled with even more foliage for tossing during the recessional.
VINTAGE VESSELS: Love is timeless and sometimes, so is drinkware and decor. Tables were set with light pink, old-fashioned fleur-de-lis Provençal glasses, and centerpieces were arranged in antique mercury glass footed vases as well as in tin and cement containers. The couple was carried away inside a vintage car amid a flurry of sparklers.
LODGE PODGE: Numerous nods were given to the woodsy locale, hunting and big game, in keeping with the venue’s 100 years of history as a roadhouse, hunting lodge, Pony Express stop and current fine dining destination known for unique cuts of meat, such as emu and elk. Seating cards were displayed in logs, and the logo featured antlers. Cocktail napkins were printed with a double entendre: “The hunt is over.” Deer figurines, one wearing a bow tie and one with a veil, sat atop the cake.
PRETTY IN PINK: Designed by Studio City’s Arminé Ohanessian, Devin’s blush pink wedding
gown and matching veil captivated both her husband and guests.
