Jennifer Roberts and Nick Lanza's summer wedding at the Houdini Estate in Los Angeles paired a garden party ambience with elevated masquerade mystique with dazzling results. The Houdini Estate oozes a rich history, initially built in the early 1900s the venue is most well known for serving as a local getaway for Harry Houdini and a location where he famously practiced his feats of escapism. The estate and gardens have been updated with modern amenities and landscaping, but still feature many of the original features. For Jennifer and Nick's grandiose nuptials, they fully embraced the allure of the property to evoke a theme centered around bold design infused with personal style. The masquerade element was woven into the day from stylish bridal portraits to reception details, and added a mysterious twist to the luscious garden atmosphere and more ethereal design aspects.
Florals designed by The Enchanted Florist were aptly enchanting, seamlessly blending the organic landscaping of the property with gorgeous bursts of color. Though darker hues found their way into décor, florals were kept to supple combinations of gentle pastels and bold pops of pink and coral hues. A refined black tie formality seen in our bride and groom's looks also added a sense of sophistication to the ceremony, and the black and white was striking against the Houdini Estate's gardens and the wedding's cohesive floral arrangements. The reception showcased sprawling banquet tables in an alfresco space, featuring a sweetheart table lit by candles. Lilac linens and dusty blue signage were a central focus, a perfect pick of hues that can lean into both garden whimsy and regal mystique. Tablescapes brought glitz into the mix with golden accents appearing in gold-rimmed chargers and glassware, and table numbers incorporated masquerade elements bringing a dose of mystery and drama to the ethereal décor. Guests and our newlyweds adorned floral leis to celebrate as the festivities continued and pulled out masks to accessorize in style. The duality of the day was topped off with two cakes that were gorgeously juxtaposed; a classic three-tiered white confection decorated with real flowers and a delightfully dramatic charcoal cake with drips of chocolate down the sides. Jennifer and Nick's wedding day was a gorgeous blend of their style and the unique aura of the Houdini Estate.
