Our travel-themed Best of 2017 gala at downtown Los Angele's historic Vibiana is overflowing with beautiful design and inspiration. California Wedding Day hosted more than 500 of Southern California's top wedding industry professionals to celebrate the finalists for Best of 2017--and announce the winners. Under the helm of our fearless captains, Travis McBurney of True Colors Events and Lisa Khan of Lisa Khan Events, we joined forces with a talented team of vendors to create an around-the-world experience from London to Morroco to the Amalfi Coast.
For Marisa Nicole Events and The Little Branch's leg of the CWD world tour, guests were transported to the classic Mediterranean landscape of the Amalfi Coast. "We worked to create a sense of organic elegance by pairing natural elements with charming luxe touches," explains Marisa Ronca of Marisa Nicole Events. "We based our pallet on saturated, varying blues, whites, creams and greens, and then incorporated small pops of warm touches with specs of gold hues and magenta bougainvillea. Our designs were full but loose, utilizing a variety of textures to bring our vision to life. Because cuisine is of major importance to Mediterranean life, we designed our Amalfi corner around family-style feasting tables situated under an Italian pergola. By hanging Edison lights and adding lush greenery and bougainvillea, we crafted an enchanting coastal feel. We loaded up our tables with blue and white linen and china, mixing patterns and colors to really bring out the aesthetic of the Amalfi culture. We brought varying blues and crystal glasses, and gold touches in our place setting. Candlelight, greenery and neutral blooms made brought a sense of romance to our tablescape. We mix and matched vineyard cross-back with upholstered chairs to reinforce our pairing of simple, relaxed details with yet elevated pieces."
Travelers were served libations including the signature Amalfi cocktail, the Capri Sun featuring Our/Los Angeles Vodka, aperol, limoncello and fresh lemon. from Italian style bar from curated goblets. Chef/Owner Neal Fraser and his team compiled an amazing feast that included an antipasto spread of salumi and formaggio, as well as charred eggplant puree, white bean puree with Calabrian chili, marinated funghi, ancient grains with grilled grape leaves, asparagus and mozzarella perlini, roasted summer vegetables, mostarda and assorted breads/grissini. After dining and drinking to their heart’s content, tourists took refuge in our lounge seating, which was made up of blue and white rugs, comfy couches, arm chairs and both glass and wooden tables.
