For Scott and Nagisa, having a wedding that fused their two cultures together was a very important element necessary for their special day. With the help of Katie McGranaham of Madrona Manor in Sonoma Valley and the talented photographers at Your Dream Photo, Scott and Nagisa were able to have a day to remember with their loved ones, and celebrate with a combination of Japanese and Western traditions.
The groom donned a dapper ensemble from Ted Baker and boutonniere custom-made by Nagisa’s mother, who is experienced in traditional Japanese floral arrangement. The bride wore a sophisticated gown by Mikella, bolero jacket, and dainty gloves for their western ceremony in front of their friends and family, some of which were joining them all the way from Japan. About half way through the night, the bride and groom changed into authentic and traditional Japanese kimonos. Nagisa’s bright and colorful kimono is a handmade authentic Japanese family heirloom passed down for generations and brought over from Japan for this special occasion. Scott's kimono also traveled all the way from Japan alongside Nagisa's parents.
The ceremony and reception was filled with bright and cheery hues of green and gorgeous floral touches that complimented the venue perfectly. Following the ceremony, family and friends were invited to indulge in the buffet and dine together at a community table. After dinner, guests were then invited to enjoy ice cream and a small taste of Japan with traditional Japanese candies and cake.
Despite the long hours of travel and the hot August weather, there was nothing but love, joy, and smiles at this perfect intimate affair in wine country.
