As the clouds parted to reveal bright-blue May skies, Emily and Louis said “I do” beneath the exquisite architecture of the rotunda at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. With nature and Roman art surrounding them in all directions, the couple found that not much more was needed, choosing to elevate the scene with minimal—though wildly perfect—brightly colored florals. Louis donned a dark blue tux with a cheeky floral tie, while Emily dazzled in a stunning silk column gown with a low back and an airy, waltz-length veil. For her “something blue,” the bride wore soft-blue, tulle block heels that paired perfectly with her bouquet of pink and gold tones.
After attending the weddings of their beloved friends over the past few years, Emily and Louis knew that they wanted their big day to feel unexpected and unique. Desiring an art-gallery-inspired celebration, the couple drew from Bauhaus to create a reception filled with shades of primary colors, geometric shapes and eclectic elements—such as cherry tomato garlands and stacked fruits and veggies—that melded wonderfully to transform Gallery 308 in San Francisco into a fun, vibrant space. The attention to detail and variation found within each tablescape, coupled with the color-blocked nature of every table, made for a visually astounding design. The couple also added personal touches to their party by asking guests to pick out recipes from a Danish baked goods cookbook—reminiscent of their Copenhagen engagement—and provided soup served in bread bowls, one of Louis’ favorite meals. To top it all off, the newlyweds treated their attendees to an ice cream truck filled with their beloved date-night treats.
