Beauty, fashion and lifestyle expert Rebekah George knows a
thing or two about being fabulous, having held fashion and beauty editor titles
for publications like Redbook and Natural Health, as well as being a go-to
for real-life makeovers and making appearances on such shows as The Today Show and Good Morning America. Throw in the fact that she’s engaged
(congratulations!) and doing a lot of the planning herself, we couldn’t think
of a more perfect person to give us tips on how to style your entire bridal look
(brides-to-be with glasses, take note).
The Dress
“Every girl has a preset idea of what they want their
wedding to look like,” says Rebekah. But she encourages brides-to-be to consider
options other than image they’ve had since they were little. She always
envisioned herself in a vintage dress, but ended up completely changing her
mind once she actually went shopping. “Take the time to really become a bride,”
she advises, “and trust your gut.” With so many gorgeous choices for a dress,
narrowing down your options can be difficult. What worked for Rebekah was going
on her dress hunt solo – after all, she says, “you know yourself best and what
you want, don’t second guess yourself.”
The Details
Finding the perfect dress is just half the battle. There’s
still the important matter of choosing accessories and shoes, which can be a
daunting task. When asked how brides can go about styling their dress, Rebekah
agrees that “it’s really about the entire package.” Her tips for styling? Head
over to Pinterest and figure out what looks you love, whether it be veils,
fascinators or other hair accessories, then “go find a cheaper option because
you don’t need to spend a lot of money.” In case you were curious (we were)
she’s wearing heels underneath her Monique Lhuillier gown – and she highly
suggests breaking your wedding shoes in for 10-15 minutes per day.
The Dilemma
Rounding out your whole look is your hair and makeup. For bridal beauty, Rebekah stands by the notion that “less
is more” and recommends that brides-to-be do a hair and makeup trial before
their wedding. But if you wear glasses, finding the perfect makeup look can be
difficult. “It is so important to know that there are options,” says Rebekah.
To ensure that she looks her absolute best on her big day,
Rebekah will be wearing her Air Optix Aqua multifocal contact lenses, which are
specifically designed to work with your eyes and provide clear vision and an
uninterrupted range of focus. She tells us that over 1.7 billion people age 40
and over have an eye condition called presbyopia – normal aging of the eye in
which the lens of the eye loses its ability to focus – but only 10 percent of that
population in United States population is aware of this condition. The Air
Optix multifocal lenses are designed to help people with presbyopia see clearly
– and, as Rebekah points out, “there will be no glare from your glasses in your
wedding photos.”
