A passion for arts and culture brought Brynna and Michael together, from a shared love for old movies and music to literature and photography. Through their adventures exploring and traveling, the couple decided to embrace a vegan lifestyle to honor Mother Nature.
Cielo Farms, with its rustic elegance and natural setting in the mountains, was the perfect place to host their nuptials. The bride’s spiraling sun tattoo, which symbolizes a connection to the universe, became a jumping-off point for Sara Holland and Jenny Goodman of At Your Door Events. The wedding design highlighted the special connections between Brynna and Michael, from art to photography. These personalized elements included a display of photographs taken by Michael on their travels, a thumbprint musical sheet as a guest book, and mini canvases hand-painted by the couple as escort cards. Even the cake was displayed as a work of art inside a picture frame.
The couple said their vows in a simple but magical setting, standing atop vintage rugs with views of the Santa Monica Mountains as the backdrop. To create a feeling of unity, love and support, their close friends and family were seated in a circular arrangement.
In a cue taken from Brynna’s passion for writing (she wrote her first book at age 10 and her mom is California Wedding Day’s publisher), the tables featured a runner of vintage book pages intertwined with novels turned table numbers resting among the florals, punctuated with fresh vegetables and fruits. A variety of patina urns, trophy vessels and brass containers made the tables look like a collection of treasures. Jasmin Michelle Designs fashioned a menu that resembled a bookmark, and even the couple’s wedding invitation looked like it was torn from the pages of a book.
Incorporating their plant-based lifestyle into the reception was a key component for the couple. A brainstorming session among the vendors—At Your Door Events, Contemporary Catering and Flower Duet—resulted in centerpieces that included fresh herbs arranged among the florals. As each course was served, the executive chef invited guests to pluck herbs that would be the final flavor profile for each dish. Guests feasted on fabulous food and enjoyed the experience of putting their own final touches on their vegan cuisine.
