Racked with Gilt
A simple wooden wine rack becomes an invisible foundation vessel for an elegant display of rich cafe au lait dahlias, chocolate brown cymbidium orchids, warm spice- and vanilla-toned roses among velvet gray dusty miller foliage. A satellite arrangement of mercury glass and wooden candlesticks, and metallic copper soap dispensers and toothbrush holders become floral vases and round out the table. “They have a unique shape or color that may not be common with traditional vases,” notes designer Brian Worley of Your Bash! Events regarding his whimsical choice. Inspiration can come from anywhere, even a simple shopping excursion. “While walking the aisles of Target, I looked at the rack as something different,” explains Los Angeles— based Worley. “It just made sense that it could contain flowers and still provide an infrastructure.”
