It's booking season for next year and I've been on the phone a lot recently. Not just with potential brides, but also paying it forward by taking a few consulting calls with aspiring wedding planners wanting to pick my brain about developing a signature style, building business & how I find the right clients. In my next few posts, I'll touch on each subject matter starting with my favorite topic ... style. .. They say life imitates art, but in my case, design imitates life. Style comes from within and is purely an expression through aesthetics. Being a good designer is about having range, pushing the envelope, not being afraid to evolve or take risks. In truth, I'm rarely on Pinterest or IG for inspiration and much of my vision comes from what I'm currently into at the moment. If you have been following me for a few years, I'm sure you've noticed my style has certainly evolved quite a bit. It's more moody, slightly edgy, a touch modern, and in some cases, a twist of boho chic. I've done a lot of personal growth, expanded my interests and have connected with more interesting people, and the exposure has most definitely come through in my design. And honestly, it's some of the best work I've produced that I'm super proud of. .. As cliche as it sounds, I walk through this world seeking the beauty in everything and everyone and with the right frame of mind and without judgment, you will see it. Life is full of really beautiful places, people and moments so remember them and be inspired. .. As for a signature style? That develops in time and by having a clear vision of what you love. For me, no matter the design context, refinement, understated elegance and minimalism always shines through. It's about building the fundamentals first and then reinventing it over and over. .. My favorite thing to hear from industry peers is, "I knew that was your design before I even read the credit" and that makes me smile. ..
