We’re completely entrance by OUE Skyspace, a new event space 78 floors high in downtown Los Angeles that just begs for a modern wedding. Couples looking for something uniquely chic with commanding views of Los Angeles are in for a treat, the industrial space in the US Bank Tower features sweeping city views, floor to ceiling windows and an unique circular space that ensures 360 views, which is nothing short of stunning when the sunsets. The raw canvas presented is absolutely ideal for wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners and anniversary parties, with ample space for all the necessary segments: from ceremony to cocktails to reception and dancing.
To explore the versatility of OUE, Lilla Bello Floral Artistry and Event Styling and Jeremy Fraser of LA Exposures took the raw, citified space and turned it into a warm and intimate setting, all at once enhancing and softening the modern space. “When we first saw the space at OUE we were so taken by the open space and magnificent views and we realized the cityscape would be the star of the evening,” says Lilla Bello’s Toby Kassoy. “So then the question was, how do we make the space intimate, warm and the last thing one would expect to see 71 floors high?”
Lilla Bello set to work mixing textures and finishes that play on the metallic of a modern city space such as OUE, and pair them with an earthy counterpart. For example, coppers mixed with woods, silvers mixed with cement grays and golds mixed with warm sunset flowers. “It transcends you into that moment when you're in a big city and you look down to see a tiny flower popping out of a crack in the cement,” explains Lilla Bello’s Toby Kassoy. “Nature is kind of rad that way!” The florals were lush and overgrown, flowing over the entire centerline of the tabletops in vibrant greens, buttery yellows and warm saffron tones with a rogue tulip sprouting out and creating it’s own direction. Wildflowers such as rudbeckia, green mist, and millet, mixed with tree hydrangea, dahlias and roses. Each place setting was finished with a simple fern leaf twig. Candles were dusted in gold to imitate metal with a warm glow shining through. The tables, chairs and chine were chosen to bring in the harder elements of city living: metallics, wood, distressed chairs. Wood tables, silver chargers, silver hammered cutlery, gold rimmed plates were set with napkins featuring a charcoal metallic weave and Designer Speciality Linens created pillows in earthy tones of taupes and henna with an aztec print to add comfortable touch. The menus and invitations by East Six took inspiration from both the hanging filament lighting as well as the city skyline. With delicious and gorgeous tray-passed appetizers and dinner by Good Gracious! alongside cocktails served up by BevMo! Add in a gorgeous JLM Couture gown and a handsome groom in a suit by Friar Tux and well...it's just magical.
