Emily Chen and Michael Rong wed in a ceremony surrounded by vineyard views with maximalist florals, followed by a romantic candle-lit reception paying homage to the couple's own candlelit picnic dates. The couple was devoted to actualizing a heartwarming and memorable design for their nuptials at Viansa Sonoma, which featured a sleek cohesion of bold and rustic elements making for an elevated wine country ambiance. The couple initially met online in Boston, where their relationship flourished for five years before career decisions led Emily and Michael to relocate to San Francisco. Florals by Floral Construction Co. took center stage throughout the day's festivities, with opulent floral décor serving as a focal design feature. Sumptuous blooms spilled into the ceremony and reception sites blurring the lines between vineyard and vista with style. A DIY wooden arch was the bare bones for a floral altar, which eventually transformed into a floral fantasy awaiting our couple after their walk down the aisle lined with beautiful textured arrangements. The same arrangements lining the aisle were repurposed for the reception as an organic border for the dancefloor and were swathed by floral chandeliers and greenery.
For their reception, the couple aimed to embody and elevate their favorite date night: a candlelit picnic in their own living room set to their favorite tunes. Planned by Two Perfect Events, the celebration was a sophisticated echo of many dates past for Emily and Michael, featuring a warm candlelit ambiance and delicious plates by ZRC Catering offering a scrumptious take on New American Californian. Rustic influences found their way into the design, with a wine barrel serving as a cake table and wooden furniture highlighted as well as wine country details. Guest tables were draped with tulle and decorated with florals and drew attention to each detail of the design in cohesion with extravagant floral chandeliers. A 4-tier cake also featured florals, and layers of London Fog and black sesame with strawberries were mouthwatering. Mason jars with custom M&Ms were a sweet treat guests could take home as a memory of the day, and an on-site pizza oven was a late-night snacker's dream. For a slight twist on typical wedding day tradition, Michael and Emily opted to do a parents dance together, where Emily and her father danced alongside Michael and his mother to a live rendition of "I Hope You Dance."
