Since the arrival of my two children, I hadn’t given much thought to my own wedding, which took place four years ago. But since coming on board California Wedding Day as the new editor, I’ve found myself cherishing my wedding memories all over again. I flipped through the pages of my bridal album and dug through my folders filled with notes and clippings of tabletops, flowers and wedding gowns, recalling how much I loved planning my own wedding and how I never really felt like Bridezilla (at least to my knowledge). I knew from the beginning what I wanted: the flowers (peonies), my colors (blue), and a small, intimate gathering in Santa Barbara.
Putting together the Spring/Summer 2012 issue, my first issue of California Wedding Day, has been similar to planning a wedding. I tasted some seriously delicious cakes, drooled over the most breathtaking gowns and met with planners about designing the most beautiful tabletop.
As you turn the pages, you’ll notice that all of us at California Wedding Day were incredibly inspired by color this season—a sprinkle here and a bright pop there are what today’s weddings are all about. Let’s face it, the color palette is a huge part of the California lifestyle, from the sunsets to the mountain landscape to the blue Pacific—not to mention the colorful and creative characters who inhabit our cities.
The pages of this issue are filled with gowns for any and every bride—fairy-tale ball gowns, straight silhouettes and fashion-forward creations. Our feature dedicated to short dresses is ideal for the bride who’s planning a casual affair or for the Hollywood girl in
need of a wardrobe change for the reception or after-party. I think the hardest part about becoming the editor of California Wedding Day is that I become so inspired by the designers, florists and wedding planners that I want to get married all over again. But I’ll settle for bringing the dream to you.
