2014 Best of Bride's New Orleans Inspired Decor
For our Best of Bride party at the
The Ebell celebrating the finalists and winners announced in our Fall Winter
Best of 2014 issue of California Wedding Day magazine (on stands now!), we
asked five design teams to take different areas of The Ebell and transform them
into a full experience. The results were so inspiring we just had to share.
Located in the heart of Los Angeles, we found ourselves in awe as we stumbled
into the enchanting Deep Southern city of New Orleans. Inspired by New Orleans’
Bourban Street and Bayou, Regina Crosby and Krista Jon of Archive Rentals created
a stunning display that made us forget exactly who, when and where we were.
To capture the essence of Bourbon
Street, Regina and Krista set the scene of an illustrious jazz club; complete
with a live jazz band (courtesy of Scott Cummings Music), vibrant vintage
marquee lights, luxurious leather couches, subtle creole details, and authentic
New Orleans style cuisine. The Ebell’s executive chef, Louis Pechan, created a
mouth watering display of Mini Cajun Shrimp Po Boys with Spicy Remoulade, Mini
Muffulettas, Blackened Catfish with Braised Greens and Crispy Grits,
Hushpuppies, Fried Okra, Mini Meat and Crawfish Pies, and Oysters Rockefeller.
To wash it all down, Pharmacie LA (Ebell’s resident mixologist) concocted a
decadent (and extremely delicious) Chocolate Mint Julep featuring bourbon, fresh mint,
with chocolate bitters
To offset the
vivacious ambience of the jazz club, Regina and Krista added an enclosed
miniature bayou cabin adorned with lush, southern greenery, vintage trinkets,
and rustic lanterns to bring us to Louisiana’s infamous swamps. The area served
as the food station, where we were able to taste all of Pechan’s delicious creole
dishes. The combination of the Bourbon Street jazz club and bayou displays were
able to recreate and embody the lively spirit of the city and kept us ooh-ing
and ahh-ing with enjoyment all night.
