Ever since Priscilla Bernard was a little girl, she would drive by Serra Chapel in Chapel Hill, perched atop a hill just off Highway 46 East in Shandon. Built by an adviser to Ronald Reagan and surrounded by grape vineyards, the chapel was the place where Priscilla always knew she would someday get married. When she and Taylor Vandenhoek started planning their wedding, they initially had completely different visions: hers would be an elegant affair, and he imagined an industrial-inspired design. Knowing they would tie the knot at Priscilla’s dream church, they found the perfect compromise for their reception at Terra Mia in Paso Robles. Inspired by the natural setting of the church, Priscilla opted for a color palette of white, green, soft pink and peach with splashes of wine as a nod to the stained glass above the church’s altar. For the reception, wedding planner Nanci Bernard took the couple’s wish for a magical evening with a relaxed vibe and created an old-fashion-style drink bar with white leather seating, creating a comfortable, cool place to lounge. To grant Priscilla’s wish for an elegant chandelier, Nanci Bernard designed a romantic cake gazebo adorned by a chandelier and soft velvet draping. Flowers by Kim brought the romance to the dining tables with small clusters of garden roses and scabiosa in gold vases nestled around square, candlelit lanterns.
