An unforgetable event begins with the perfect invitation as they set the tone for what's to come. A few of our favorite companies have crafted these gorgeous designs below with using unexpected materials and multiple textures, including velvet, metal, wood and leather to help make your first impression a lasting impression.
Viv Milne, the owner and creative mind behind Honeycrisp Designs, was inspired to create this suite after finding a stack of old, handwritten love letters between her grandparents, lovingly wrapped in a swatch of velvet. Milne expertly juxtaposed a sense of vintage beauty with modern elements to create a timeless elegance. French blue and orchid-hued velvet elements, such as those on the invitation, response card and envelope liner, have been combined with vintage calligraphy and hand-sketched florals to bring an antique feel to the suite. The minimalist typography and geometric die-cut shapes introduce a contemporary influence. Soft mauve and blush cardstock round out the romantic suite.
Metal meets romance in Jasmine Michelle Designs’ invitation suite inspired by Havana, Cuba. Artist and owner Jasmin Sabau has put an industrial spin on the island country’s tropical vibes by engraving the invitation on glossy white metal mounted on bare metal. The suite, including the event schedule and RSVP cards, features leaf detailing and is wrapped in a metal gatefold featuring a laser-cut palm leaf design. The envelope liner bears a custom illustration of Havana’s historic lighthouse, Faro del Morro.
Lazy Creative Designs employed wood and leather to create a contemporary invitation suite with a bohemian vibe. Since leather and wood typically project a masculine sensibility, owner Christy Healy expertly added delicate contrasting elements, such as clean white card stock, subtle gold touches and silk ribbons. A black and white tile pattern edges the minimalist invitation, which features a fine san serif font and is tucked into a leather pocket. To showcase a number of printing options on leather, Healy turned to Paper Event to incorporate both laser and letterpress techniques, as seen on the save-the-date calendar insert and the leather address label. The wood reply card featuring Healy’s calligraphy was printed by Captured Digital Print Specialists, creating a one-of-a-kind look.
